My Blog on my Bastion print.
Pretty much printed out all the whole engine but wating on the all terrain options before assembly then painting. While it suggested you can swap out, it is not tight enough and feels like it would need glue to keep the under carriage in place.
Any ETA on the wheeled option Cassidy?
The Engine is a beast. Looking forward to getting it painted and weathered for my Necromunda campaign.
I had two failed prints on the main body of the Bastion. It was lifting on one corner but just changed the initial layer to 0.2mm from 0.15 mm and it adhered to the textured plate just fine.
Hi Jim! This is looking good! The small tires were the right choice for this setup! Thanks for the notes about the instructions I'll investigate the discrepancy and make those changes in the next update. I'm sorry about the Longstriker. I've printed it successfully and can confirm others have as well, but I'm all for strengthening and improving it where necessary. If it happens again let me know and I'll make some changes. Do you have a paint scheme in mind?
Wartrains back on the plate. Small wheels printed and assembled. Blue tac works fine to swap out the undercarriage. The troop car should use short pins not long pins as written in the instructions. Just needed one long pin for the nose of the engine undercarriage.
Getting close. Just a few bits and pieces like couplers and another ramp and their supports. Then onto painting.
I printed out the alternate weapons. Found the longstriker barrel too thin at the base, that it snapped when I took off the plate. Maybe just a mishap or I need to increase the infill...
Here is some pics.
I have been printing out the troop car. The blast shutters DB1 DB2 DB3 DB4 are different to the instructions. The shutters appear to have a handle or clip in the instructions. The printed shutters are flat. I have not printed all parts to assemble so do not know if there is an issue or just a discrepancy.
Also any ETA on the off track stretch goal?
Hey Jim, I understand. My logic behind it is you would have separate assembled chassis plates (UF1 & UR1) with bogie pins glued into the transoms for each type of conversion. I can modify UF1 and UR1 to have slightly larger pegs, but I would only be guessing as I'm sure the tolerances are so small it would be impossible to measure, it may take a couple of attempts but I'm happy to try it if you're interested! Let me know if you have any other ideas! -Cassidy
Hi Jim! Your build is coming together nicely. Really looking forward to seeing how you integrate it into Necromunda! Regarding the tolerances for swapping out the train wheels/tires, are the pegs I've highlighted in blue here the parts that do not fit snug?
If so, this is tricky as some people say they are too tight, some too loose, others are perfect. I'd like to help you find a solution though, the assembled chassis component above is what makes it easy to swap out the train wheels/tires/treads/hover conversions. Let me know if this is the area you're talking about and I'll see if there's anything I can do to help out.
The Off-Track Stretch Goal is going to be released next. Hopefully within the next week if everything goes as planned. Thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to seeing your finished build!
